Here in London we have a knack for setting the brand new right next to the ancient. Leadenhall Market stands on what was the centre of Roman London, and has been the site of a market since the fourteenth century. The Leadenhall Building at 122 Leadenhall Street (better known as the Cheesegrater) is London’s fourth tallest building and opened in July 2014 and can be seen over the top of the market. You can also see a crane, always signs of new construction in the city.
Today is the day after the terror attack in London, which happened less than a mile from where I stood to take this photo two days ago. Love and strength to all those affected.
