This is a railing at the top of our local park which is full of ‘peace rocks’. Two local organisations Bold Vision and Artmongers have recently been to Syria and they made them there. When they returned home, they inspired the local community in South East London to make some here, as part of the Bold Vision Refugee Twinning Project. These rocks are the broken down remains of social housing in New Cross, and have been decorated by local residents with colours and glitter and hung in prominent gardens and public places. They are symbolic of peace in all forms. You could give one to a friend to say hello or sorry, or give one to a stranger and maybe make a friend. Above all they show solidarity with refugees.
You can find out more if you like by looking at the link here. Maybe you can make some peace rocks in your area?
